Dear 5th, 6th, 7TH and 8th  Grade Players and Parents
REGISTRATION/TEAM PARENT MEETING/FIRST PRACTICE – TUESDAY, AUGUST 20, 2013 FROM 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM AT SANTA CLARA RECREATION CENTER, 1008 Santa Clara Point in Mission Beach  (Short meeting with parents at beginning of practice)
THEREAFTER PRACTICES WILL BE THURSDAYS AND TUESDAYS BEGINNING AUGUST 22, 2013 FROM 3:30 PM TO 5:30 PM again at SANTA CLARA RECREATION CENTER, 1008 Santa Clara Point, Mission Beach (parking is on the north side of the field north of the Rec Center building)
There are no fields available for practices in La Jolla but we hope again to be able to have home games at La Jolla High School.
Season games will begin the weekend of September 21, 2013 on either Saturday or Sunday and go for approximately 8 weeks with play mostly on Saturdays or Sundays plus two weekday games early in the season.  The season ending tournament should be on the weekend of November 16, 2013.  There look to be at least 18 teams from around the county participating.  WE ANTICIPATE EXCITING, FUN SEASON!!!
The schedule of games will be available around the middle of September, 2013 once all the participating teams have been confirmed.  We are looking to have the first games to be home games on Saturday, September 21, 2013 or Sunday, September 22, 2013 at LJHS football field.
We believe Brittany Butler, the head varsity coach at LJHS, will again be the coach of the 7th-8 grade team (however depending on number of 7th and 8th graders, they may be divided up into an 8th grade team and a 7th grade team).  We also believe that Therese D’Ambrosio will again be the coach for the 5th -6th grade team.
We have plenty of room for New players as well as returning players.  So if you have friends that did not play in the Fall, 2012 or Spring 2013 but would like to play, they are welcome so please forward the e mail this flyer came with or make copies of this flyer and the registration forms and get them to your friends right away.
The cost will be $190 for returning players and others who already have goggles and  $230 for those new players who also need goggles (I will have goggles available at first practices which are the same as for high school and so you can wear them on into high school play).  The fees go to pay major expenses of referee fees, coach’s pay, tournament fees and field rental fees.  I have coordinated the middle school girls lacrosse program going on 13 years on a voluntary basis - I do not take any compensation.
For those who don’t already have goggles, I order them in bulk at $40 a piece (retail is approx. $55- 65).  For those who don’t have goggles or want new goggles, you can buy goggles on your own or buy them from me at practice.
Players must have their own lacrosse sticks, and a dark colored mouth guard (team shirt and shorts will be provided).  We highly recommend soccer shoes.    Lacrosse sticks can be purchased at Adrenaline Lacrosse (formerly South Swell Sports) at its new location at 701 16th Street, San Diego, or Lacrosse Plus or places like Play It Again Sports; check your phone book or address and telephone number.  The average cost of a decent stick is $60-$120.  BE SURE TO GET A GIRL’S LACROSSE STICK, NOT A BOY’S STICK.  All equipment (stick, goggles, mouth guard)  must be brought to every practice in order for the girls to play.
I will have a few loaner lacrosse sticks and goggles which I can let players, who do not already have their sticks or goggles, use for the first few practices until the player gets her own stick and/or goggles.
If interested, please COMPLETE AND BRING TO PRACTICE OR SEND REGISTRATION FORM, and MEDICAL FORMS which can be downloaded from the "Girls Teams" tab at www.lajollalacrosse.com TOGETHER WITH $190 (if you already have goggles) or $230 (if you need goggles) CHECK payable to:  “Girls Jr. Lacrosse of La Jolla”   to:   J. Peter Olson, 5235 Harbour Heights Court, San Diego, CA 92109.
